Brisbane Antique Centre
Dealing since 1977, this collection of high quality antique furniture, jewellery and other treasures is displayed in an old Art Deco building that was once a furniture factory, built in 1927.
Two floors house 25 or so dealers, with a toy room for the children (smart move in an antique store), and a television for Dad who has been dragged along by Mum! "We deal in the entire spectrum of human endeavour" is their very apt motto, so you will have to go see for yourself, but take your "bursting" wallet with you!

Vincent's
Foresters' Hall is a heritage building found among the trendy cafes and restaurants of the most "renovated" suburb of Brisbane, Paddington, where Vincent displays his goods.

Old books, records (remember them?) and eclectic and interesting collectables complete the picture. Search to find that particular piece you need; two carved timber wardrobes were excellent examples of "retro antique"--prices are very reasonable--50 cents to AUD300.

One Stop Antiques
For silky-oak furniture this two-roomed shop is a must to visit. Once the last staging station before the town of Brisbane for the Cobb & Co coaches, (returning gold diggers from the Gympie gold fields), it has displayed good value furniture since 1988.
Tables, dressers and cupboards abound, against a backdrop of a large wall hanging tarpa from Tonga, made from mulberry leaves, the ethnic colours setting off the patina of the silky-oak pieces.
You can have your furniture needs custom made here, in silky oak, maple and cedar; and they do expert restorations.

Apart from an ever-changing stock of jewellery, musical instruments, watches and sporting goods, the store keeps a very good selection of second-hand CDs. The only regret is that someone had to part with them in the first place!

Eureka Street
The wonderful patina of old timber literally glows at you in these two large rooms of country style furniture.
The Eureka Stockade miners' uprising in Ballarat, Victoria was in 1854, and since 1987, "Eureka Street" has upheld a tradition of using Australian and imported recycled timber, along with "subtly aged" new local pine to craft tables, chairs and dressers in the style of that time.
Using predominantly the "Baltic stain" finish on most of their pieces, there are also some entertainment units and some leather lounges (new) to select.
The colour brochure can help you choose at your leisure.

The antique frames range from ornate to stunningly simple, or simply stunning. Convex, or "butler" mirrors (enabling the butler to see around corners) are also available.
